Police: Children unrestrained in vehicle clocked going 105 mph

BUTLER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A man is facing charges after he was caught driving over 100 mph with two children unrestrained in the vehicle in Butler Township.

Joshua Crider, 35, of Buffalo Township, was driving at 105 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 422, near Benbrook Road in Butler County.

The incident happened about 3:15 p.m. July 19.

Police said that a woman and two children, ages 6 and 8, were in the vehicle when officers stopped Crider, and that neither child was properly secured in the vehicle.

Troopers said Crider gave three different reasons for speeding: high blood pressure, trying to pass a car and needing to cash his check.

Crider will face charges including endangering the welfare of children, reckless driving, careless driving and speeding.

Police told Channel 11 Crider will also lose his driver's and CDL license.
