Police: Driver tries to hit police vehicles during chase in Indiana County

WHITE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A man led police on a chase Friday night after he refused to stop and attempted to hit police vehicles in Indiana County, authorities said.

Police tried to pull the man over about 7:45 p.m. on Philadelphia Street in Indiana Borough. He did not stop and tried twice to hit the police vehicle with his pickup truck, police said.

The man drove away, but was spotted in White Township by Pennsylvania State Police. He swerved toward a state police vehicle before driving through red lights, endangering other motorists with his erratic driving, police said.

The chase ended just before 8 p.m. on Oakland Avenue after a precision immobilization technique was used, police said. The man lost control of the pickup truck and crashed into a concrete sign base.

The man, 59-year-old Charles Randolph, is charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, fleeing and eluding police, simple assault and numerous traffic citations.
