Police said that the 12-year-old reported someone in the van stuck their hand out of the driver’s side window and motioned for him to come over.

The boy ignored the person and continued to walk down the sidewalk on Siberian Avenue, police said.

Police said the driver of the van followed the boy for a block and a half to his home.

The boy told his parents and they immediately went to police.

"It happens. It's the world we live in. It's sad but we just have to do our due diligence as parents and teach our kids how to be safe and do our part to keep them safe,” said Wesley Berry, a local parent.

The van is described as a light gray older-model vehicle with tinted windows and black pinstripes on the sides.

Police said the Leechburg School District has been notified and its security will keep an eye out for the van.
