Police nab man they say is responsible for pair of robberies

Police were called to a Fayette County local beer distributor Monday night for a man allegedly holding a clerk at knifepoint with a butcher knife.

The description matched a man they had been searching for, who said he had a gun when he held up the Walgreens just up the street in Uniontown earlier this month.

“A couple people were brave enough to follow and give us an idea where he was headed and moments later we were able to find him,” said Lt. Tom Kolencik.

Police had been searching for Anthony Susano since April 11. They say Susano is in surveillance photos from the Walgreens, claiming he had a gun and demanding money.

“Fast forward to (Monday), got called to 5 Corners Beer Distributor,” Kolencik said. “Male matching description enters, brandishes a butcher knife, asks for the money.”Sev

eral brave customers went after the robber to see where he went. Police credit them with helping them catch the suspect.

Detectives tell Channel 11 that Susano is not from our area. They don't know where he's from, but say it's a relief to the local businesses that he was caught, because they don’t know if he had a place to stay and he needed money.

After his arrest, police said the suspect confessed to both robberies.
