CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Two Cranberry Township police officers are being credited with saving two men from a burning home.
The police chief said a mail carrier noticed smoke coming from the home on Sherwood Drive just after 12 p.m. Tuesday and contacted 911.
Within minutes, two police officers arrived at the home. They started banging on the front door, then forced their way through the back door to see if anyone was inside.

They were just ready to turn and leave when somebody made a noise in the back bedroom,” said Chief Kevin Meyer, of the Cranberry Township Police Department.
Beau Aleva was one of two men asleep in the home. As a former firefighter, he said he’s used to seeing fire scenes, but never expected to be saved from one.
“Thank God Cranberry cops came in and got us out before anything bad happened,” Aleva said. “If the cops hadn’t come in, I probably wouldn’t have made it. Neither of us would’ve.”
Meyer said he’s proud of his officers and believes they do an exceptional job every day.
