PITTSBURGH — There is no new start date for when the Port Authority will go cashless, but it could possibly be in October.
Port Authority representatives say the connect card machines that dispense fare cards and tickets have not been delivered.
The company that makes the machines was supposed to install them this month.

Those manufacturing delays, coupled with some software issues, are responsible for the hold up.
The connect cards and tickets would be validated on the platform before getting onto the T.
The system is designed to speed up boarding by allowing all doors to be opened at more locations.
There will be a 60-day period where the Port Authority teaches riders how to use the new machines before they fully take effect.
