WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. — With the trial for the former student charged in the 2014 Franklin Regional High School stabbing set for November, a pre-trial conference will be held Friday.
Alex Hribal was 16 years old when he allegedly stabbed 20 students and a security guard, all of whom survived.
While pre-trial conferences are routine, Hribal’s attorney, Pat Thomassey, signaled that there could be a plea deal.
If there is a plea deal, the stabbing victims would not be forced to testify and relive the horrific day during trial.

Jury selection is currently set to begin on Nov. 13.
Hribal’s defense team previously asked the judge to allow him to plead guilty but mentally ill. The judge rejected that request.
Hribal’s attorney also wanted the case to be tried in juvenile court, but the judge ruled Hribal must face the charges as an adult.
