ELIZABETH, Pa. — The snow and heavy rain have caused several problems in the area from potholes to landslides. All the wet weather has now damaged a road and bridge in Allegheny County.
All the rain last week washed away part of the bridge that leads to Robert Smith's house in Elizabeth Township.
The concrete and retaining wall have eroded away. One of the I-beams that supports the bridge has been dislodged.
Smith contacted Channel 11 for help in finding out what can be done to keep the creek that runs along Long Hollow Road from overflowing during heavy rain.

“This is my only access in and out of here,” Smith said. “My vehicles were all stuck over here, so I had to hook my backhoe up to the bridge to hold it up in the air in order to get my car out.”
Smith said he thinks the creek needs to be dredged.
In the past, he has contacted the township and PennDOT but he says he hasn't been able to get any help.
"I'm not asking them to make me a beautiful new driveway or bridge," Smith said. "I just want to be able to go in and out of my house without worrying about falling in the creek."
