PITCAIRN, Pa. — A road in Pitcairn is shut down indefinitely because of serious landslide concerns.
Shifting land along Hillside Avenue has prompted officials to reroute traffic, and a plan is in place for emergency vehicles that have to get up and down the street.

Borough officials have applied for a grant to get the problem fixed. They said it has been a problem since the beginning of the year, but it has recently gotten worse.
Officials said more rain could make it worse.
“Not to mention, if it falls, it's going to cause a lot of underground shifting, and we have a lot of homes up there on Hillside Avenue,” Pitcairn police Chief Scott Farally said.
Allegheny County emergency officials assessed the hill and road Tuesday, and Jersey barriers were put up to block all through traffic.
