Family files lawsuit against senior living facility over social media

BUTLER, Pa. — A lawsuit has been filed on behalf of an elderly, senior living center resident who her family said was photographed partially nude.

According to the family's lawyer, staff at Paramount Senior Living in Seven Fields allegedly took the picture without the woman's consent and posted it on social media.

"To make matters worse, our client suffers from severe dementia, has a hard time communicating effectively, and you can tell from the photograph she's doing the best she can to cover up her private parts," said Attorney Rob Pierce.

The lewd photo was allegedly taken last New Year's Eve. According to the lawsuit, staff posted the picture on SnapChat, then shared it in a message on Facebook.

Pierce said he hopes regulations regarding mobile phones being used in nursing homes will be put in place to make sure elderly nursing home residents are protected.

Paramount sent Channel 11 a statement:

"Paramount Senior Living disputes the characterization of its actions in Plaintiff's Complaint. As soon as we were made aware of the incident, the employee was immediately suspended and then terminated. We are sickened by the actions of this employee and do not tolerate this behavior in our senior living communities."
