Shooting victim found at East Pittsburgh gas station

EAST PITTSBURGH, Pa. — A man shot during a robbery early Tuesday morning drove to a nearby gas station to seek help, police said.

Police and paramedics responded to a call at the Sunoco on Lincoln Highway, where they found a 23-year-old man in an SUV with a single gunshot wound, according to a news release from Allegheny County Police.

He was taken to a hospital and was listed in critical condition as of Tuesday afternoon.

Homicide detectives said the victim was shot while sitting in his SUV a couple of blocks away at the intersection of Bessemer Avenue and Glosser Street, according to the release. Two men approached and attempted to rob him. They fled on foot.

"I don't know what's going on out here anymore. You're afraid to walk around the corner because you hear a shooting," said Darla Johnson, of East Pittsburgh.
