Stolen SUV hits cars, school bus after crashing through garage door

PITTSBURGH — An alleged drunken driver crashed a stolen SUV through a garage door and into several parked cars before hitting a fence and a school bus early Tuesday morning in Pittsburgh’s South Side, police said.

Elliot Miller, 25, of Ben Avon was arrested for the incident and charged with driving under the influence, vehicle theft and five counts of criminal mischief.

"Luckily, it was caught on video camera, our security camera, and the police, God bless them, caught him," said Jennifer Halle, president of the South Side Lofts condo association, which owns the garage.

In all, five vehicles, including the school bus, were damaged, police said. The bus was parked on the other side of the fence that was struck.

The garage at 23rd and Mary streets is where tenants of the South Side Lofts park.

Halle said the damage is costly and she hopes insurance covers it.

“We’re good people here that live in the South Side Lofts, and we shouldn’t have to put up with this,” Hallie said.

"The whole roller motors have to be changed. Everything. We have to start from scratch, and in the meantime, we have to pay for a security guard 24/7 because now it’s an insecure building."

No one was hurt.
