BUTLER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A former worker at an auto parts store in Butler County is accused of making more than a dozen fake returns and pocketing the cash.
Ryan Roth, 33, was charged and fired after police say he admitted to the theft from the Advance Auto Parts store on Route 8 in Butler Township.
Over a four-month period, Roth made 15 fraudulent returns to the tune of almost $3,800, according to police.
Police said he confessed to the crimes, giving management a written statement, saying he was very sorry and will pay back every last penny and that he used the money for household expenses.
According to the criminal complaint, the employee admitted he recently became the only source of income and he used the money to pay rent and get groceries.
Police say what he did was criminal. Advanced Auto Parts terminated him immediately
