Surveillance video captures people rifling through cars in Troy Hill

PITTSBURGH — Police are hoping surveillance video will help them catch whoever rifled through cars in Troy Hill over the weekend.

Video captured three people who appear to be going in and out of the cars.

In the video, you can see the three people seemingly checking the door handles on several cars along Straubs Lane. It didn't appear that any of the cars on this stretch of the street were unlocked.

A resident posted the surveillance video on Facebook, and neighbors are sharing it with one another and making sure their cars are locked.

"A friend next to me said, 'Did you see this video?' And he held out his smartphone, and I watched the three boys come down the street here, two of them on either side, one closer to the car," said Stan Jones.

Jones said they skipped his car because it was locked.
