Teacher on paid leave during investigation

The Highlands School District just confirmed a high school teacher is on paid leave.

The district solicitor said a teacher is part of an "employment-related investigation" and that Monaca-based CSI Investigators are conducting it.

CSI provides security services for the district.

The district is not revealing why the teacher is on paid leave.

Channel 11 contacted the superintendent and left messages for the school board president Tuesday, but there was no response.

A school officer refused to talk.

Parents have not been notified, nor have township commissioners.

Channel 11 talked with two students who said they are well aware of accusations going around.

Those same students told Channel 11 they have not seen the teacher for more than one week.

They say the school hasn’t told them why that teacher is gone.

An attorney for the district wont specify why the teacher is on paid leave, but said the safety of students is not an issue.
