PITTSBURGH — A teenager was arrested late Tuesday night after two robberies were reported in Pittsburgh’s Garfield neighborhood, authorities said.
Police were initially called for a report of shots fired on South Winebiddle Street. Upon arrival, officers were flagged down by a man and woman. The woman told them she had been robbed by two teenage boys, one of whom had a gun.
Police said one of the teenagers got into a tussle with the woman when he tried to grab her purse.

“I heard somebody say, ‘Get your paws off me,’ which caught my attention. I looked out my window. I didn't see anything at first, then I saw two guys running up the street toward Penn Avenue,” Mary Tabasko, who lives in the area, said.
Both of the teenagers were described as black. One of them was short and was wearing a gray and white hooded sweatshirt and jeans. The other was taller, had no shirt on and was wearing shorts.
While police were investigating, the report of a second robbery, on Kincaid Street, came over the police radio. An officer located and arrested a 17-year-old who matched one of the descriptions given in the first robbery. A handgun was also recovered, police said.
