Thick smoke pours from Washington apartments after man wakes up to heater on fire

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Firefighters battled thick smoke as a fire burned Tuesday morning at apartments in Washington.

The fire started about 9 a.m. at the building on Ewing Street.

Officials said a man woke up to his space heater on fire. He suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation.

Two other people were also treated for smoke inhalation, officials said.

At least seven people were displaced by the fire, which sent smoke pouring from the roof and windows.
