Thiel College investigates source of norovirus that sickened students and staff

MERCER COUNTY, Pa. — Officials at Thiel College in Mercer County are trying to track down the source of norovirus, which sickened students and staff members.

They said only a few new cases were reported today, which they believe means the precautions being taken to stop the spread of the virus are working.

Those precautions include:

  • Additional cleaning and sanitation in residence halls, classrooms and common places.
  • Closing the fitness center.
  • Discontinuing athletic practices and events.

According to a post on the college’s website, officials will determine Sunday whether practices and events can resume. The other precautions will remain in place.
