Multiple fire departments were called to the campground off Staff Road in Slippery Rock.
Fire officials said the fire sparked in one empty trailer and then spread to others that had people inside. In all, three trailers were destroyed, including the one where the fire started, and three others were damaged.

Unionville Volunteer Fire Company Chief Nathan Wulff said it was difficult maneuvering the trucks around the campsite to access the fire. Plus, the campers were so close to one another, the flames spread easily.
“Being that it's a campground, and the way it's laid out, the roads are very narrow, and that's why we had to lay so much hose, because there wasn't room to get the trucks in,” Wulff said. "Water supply is always an issue (because) we don't have hydrants. We were drafting out of a creek about four miles south from where the fire was and using tankers to shuttle water up to the scene."
