A man who is in the United States illegally is in the Westmoreland County jail for unlawfully shooting a deer during archery season without a valid hunting license.
According to our news partners at Trib Total Media, Angel Amaya is charged with illegal possession of a firearm by an alien unlawfully in the United States, a misdemeanor count of tampering with evidence, and summary citations of killing a big game animal during a closed season, possession of a firearm during archery season, and illegally possessing a hunting license without taking the required hunter education course.

State game officials said Amaya illegally shot a deer Nov. 7 while hunting with a rifle near a farm in Loyalhanna Township, Trib Total Media reported.
Amaya was wanted on a detainer by federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials in Texas, according to Trib Total Media.
State game officials recovered the rifle Amaya used to shoot the deer.
