U.S. attorney details indictment against alleged Russian hackers

A day after the stunning announcement of an indictment against Russian intelligence agents for allegedly attempting to hack Westinghouse Electric Co., U.S. attorney Scott Brady told Channel 11 he’s committed to prosecuting them.

The hackers allegedly tried to break into Westinghouse’s computers to steal trade secrets from the nuclear power company.

"They are doing this to real people," Brady said. "Any means to get in, to victimize."

Brady said the Russian hacker remotely targeted employees' private computers trying find a way in. He does not believe they ever came to our area or set up their sophisticated equipment on site like they did with other groups.

In fact, officials say it was Westinghouse that noticed discrepancies.

"They are here, targeting companies in Pittsburgh to try and disrupt," FBI Special Agent in Charge Robert Jones said. "If u see something, say something, and we will investigate."
