West Virginia teachers go on strike

All 55 public school districts in West Virginia canceled classes Thursday after West Virginia teachers went on strike.

Thousands of teachers and school service personnel across the state are protesting pay and health insurance issues, according to CNN.

Gov. Jim Justice signed a law Wednesday that gave more than $119 million in pay increases to teachers, service personnel and state police over the next three years.

The teachers union, however, said the bill is not enough to cover the increasing costs of health insurance.
