Walker told Channel 11 News that Rubin lived in the home for 37 years. He called her a perfect neighbor, respected and known as being the neighborhood grandma.

"Everybody loved her and she loved everybody loved her too,” he said.

Bob Edgar was staying at the house next door. He said by the time he came outside, Rubin’s trailer was engulfed. He heard a popping sound and saw flames shooting out of the window, but they were too intense.

"I tried to get in the door and there was notes in there for oxygen,” Edgar said. “I come running around the house. I couldn't get in the door, I couldn't get within 8-10 feet."

Rubin’s pet also died in the fire.

The homes on either side were damaged.
