Woman arrested on drug, burglary charges in Perry South

PITTSBURGH — A woman was arrested Monday morning after police were called to a home in Pittsburgh’s Perry South neighborhood for a burglary with shots fired, authorities said.

Officers were dispatched about 2:30 a.m. to the home on Veteran Street and found a broken front window and an open front door.

Investigators said four to five masked men kicked in the home’s door, at which point one of the occupants fired an AK-47-style rifle. The masked men then fled.

A man and a woman came out of the home, police said.

The woman, 32-year old Micaela Lindsey-Carpenter, told police her 8-year-old daughter was sleeping inside the home. When police went inside to get the girl, they found an AK-47-style rifle, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Neighbors told Channel 11 the girl is now staying with her father.

A search warrant was obtained and investigators retrieved weapons, marijuana, crack cocaine, cocaine, prescription pills, drug paraphernalia and cash from the home, according to police.

Lindsey-Carpenter was treated for a hand injury and placed under arrest.

She is charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, endangering the welfare of a child, recklessly endangering another person, burglary and other drug charges.

An eviction notice is posted on her front door.
