Woman delivers baby at gas station

Channel 11 got hold of the surveillance from a local gas station which captures the real "life" emergency when a pregnant woman couldn't make it to hospital.

The baby is fine, and so is the mother, but the minutes around the baby's birth were intense, as you can see from the video.

Customers of this gas station told Channel 11 "this is a happy day."

TRENDING NOW:

It was 3 a.m. Thursday when a driver whipped into the parking lot of a Sunoco in Homewood and said (the passenger's) baby was on its way.

Surveillance video shows the driver running to get help inside the store, but quickly ran back to the woman's side.

Other customers pulled in and rushed over to help.

Police and paramedics swarmed the parking lot five minutes later.

When help got to her, police say the woman had already given birth in the front seat of the car.

The baby boy was carried to a waiting ambulance, with his mother not far behind.

Channel 11 checked with police and said both the mother and her baby are doing well.
