Tractor-trailer driver has medical issue, crashes into parked cars in West Oakland

PITTSBURGH — A truck driver died after his tractor-trailer crashed into several parked cars Thursday morning in West Oakland.

The crash was reported at about 5:40 a.m. Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Sonya Toler told Channel 11 News that the coroner identified the victim as 63-year-old Madison Jones, of Hebron, Indiana.

Channel 11’s Trisha Pittman reported that the driver appeared to have a medical emergency. He was slumped over the wheel as the truck blocked Robinson and Allequippa Streets at about 6 a.m.

The medical examiner said Jones died of a heart condition.

The roads were blocked for several hours.
