Closure Along Route 50 Among Weekend Construction

PITTSBURGH,None — Crews will continue work on several long term projects along with a full closure of Route 50 in Bridgeville.

Below is a summary of the major closings and restrictions this weekend:

Route 50

Route 50 (Washington Road/Pike) in Bridgeville will be closed for reconstruction between Bower Hill Road and Prestley Road from 8 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday. Signs will be posted to guide motorists around the closure using I-79.

Smithfield Street

The inbound lanes of the Smithfield Street Bridge will be milled and resurfaced this weekend. Traffic on the bridge will be reduced to single lane in each direction shifted to the outbound (southbound) side of the bridge 6 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. on Monday.

Liberty Tunnel

The Liberty Tunnel will be closed in both directions from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday.

Parkway West

Long-term single lane traffic in place on the inbound (eastbound) Parkway West (I-376) in Findlay Township will continue through this weekend. PennDOT crews are removing and replacing damaged concrete slabs on the inbound Parkway West between the Flaugherty Run Road and Clinton interchanges.

I-579 Crosstown Boulevard

Westbound Forbes Avenue will be closed this weekend 8 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m.Monday in the area of I-579/Crosstown Boulevard. Eastbound traffic on Forbes Avenue will be reduced to single lane. The westbound closure will occur between Boyd Street and Sixth Avenue; eastbound single lane traffic will occur from Ross Street to Boyd Street. Crews will be painting the I-579 ramps over Forbes Avenue.

Clairton Glassport Bridge

The Clairton Glassport Bridge in the City of Clairton and Glassport Borough will be closed to traffic from 8 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday. Crews will be replacing expansion joints on the bridge over the weekend.
