Updated:PITTSBURGH,None - Two main downtown bridges plus the Parkway East and West will see construction in several areas. Below is a list of weekend roadway restrictions and closures planned between Friday evening and Monday morning.
Fort Duquesne Bridge
The lower (inbound) deck of the Fort Duquesne Bridge and all inbound ramps will be fully closed 7 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday. Traffic will be detoured using the West End Bridge to Saw Mill Run Boulevard (Route 51/19) to the inbound Parkway West (I-376). Additional police officers will be placed in the West End Circle and on the West End Bridge to help with traffic movements.
Parkway East (I-376)
Crews will be repairing and rehabilitating pavement transitions on outbound (eastbound) bridges at the Bates Street/Oakland Interchange, Squirrel Hill Tunnel and at the Commercial Street Overpass (between the Squirrel Hill Tunnel and the Edgewood Swissvale Interchange). Lane closures may occur on the Parkway East Friday night through early Saturday evening.
Single lane traffic on the outbound (eastbound) Parkway East between the Churchill and Pennsylvania Turnpike interchanges will occur 8 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.
Parkway West (I-376)
Single lane closures will occur on the inbound (eastbound upper deck) Fort Pitt Bridge from 6 a.m. to noon on Saturday and Sunday.
Single lane traffic on the outbound (westbound) Parkway West will occur from 8 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday in the area west of the Carnegie interchange. The outbound right and center lanes will be closed (single left lane open) Traffic entering the outbound Parkway West from the Carnegie on-ramp will be required to stop.
Single lane traffic in both directions on the Parkway West in Robinson Township will occur from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. All ramps will remain open.
Traffic on Business Route 376 (Old Business Route 60) in Moon Township will be reduced to a single lane this weekend from 8 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday. Single lane traffic will occur on Business 376 in both directions between International Drive and the Parkway West.
Northbound I-79 will be restricted to a single lane between the Crafton interchange and the Neville Island Bridge this weekend from 7 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday. Southbound traffic will not be affected this weekend. Ramp closures will occur from Friday through Saturday, as well.
Single, left-lane closures on northbound I-79 between the Bridgeville Rest Area and the Parkway West will occur 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Northbound (outbound) traffic is reduced to a single lane between the 31st Street Bridge and the 40th Street Bridge through July 2012.
Northbound traffic on Route 28 will remain in a single lane pattern crossed over onto the southbound lanes from the Shaler Water Treatment Facility to the Etna interchange through late November. The northbound off-ramps to Route 8 and Sharpsburg are also closed. Southbound Route 28 is open to two lanes.
Route 65 is reduced to a single, 10-foot wide lane in each direction between Hiland Avenue and Camp Horne Road in the Borough of Emsworth through November.
Route 65 is reduced to a single, 10-foot wide lane in each direction from the Dilworth Run Bridge to Locust Street in the Borough of Avalon through mid-November.
Route 65 (Ohio River Boulevard) is reduced to a single lane in both directions long-term in the area of the I-79 interchange with northbound traffic crossed over onto the southbound lanes. All ramps connecting Route 65 to I-79 are also closed to facilitate the crossover. Traffic is being detoured using the Sewickley Bridge to Route 51 to I-79. These traffic patterns will remain in place through fall.
