Crosstown Boulevard Restrictions Planned Again This Weekend

PITTSBURGH,None — Crews will continue major rehab work on the Crosstown Blvd ramps once again this weekend. Below is a summary of all the major closings and restrictions this weekend:

Short-Term

I-579 Crosstown Boulevard Closures The ramp from southbound I-579 (Crosstown Boulevard) to the southbound Liberty Bridge will be closed 8 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday. The ramp from Crosstown Boulevard to the eastbound Boulevard of the Allies/Parkway East (I-376) will remain open.

Lane closures on the I-579 Veterans Bridge will occur as needed from 6 a.m. to noon Saturday. Crews will be conducting inspection activities in various locations in both directions on south (downtown) end of the bridge.

Liberty Tunnel The Liberty Tunnel will be closed in both directions from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday.

Parkway West The ramp from the inbound (eastbound) Parkway West (I-376) to Greentree Road will be closed 8 p.m. Friday through 8 p.m. Sunday. In addition, Greentree Road will be reduced to a single lane in each direction during the ramp closure. Traffic will continue inbound on the Parkway West, exiting to Route 51 northbound, taking the outbound (westbound) Parkway West back to the Greentree interchange.

Business Route 22 Business Route 22 will closed in both directions 11 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday in the area under the outbound (eastbound) Parkway East (I-376) in Monroeville to allow crews to remove beams from the existing bridge that carries the outbound Parkway East over Business Route 22.

Long-Term

Boston Bridge The Route 48 Boston Bridge in Versailles and Elizabeth Township is closed through Sept. 27. Pedestrian traffic is also restricted at this time.

Route 65 Route 65 (Ohio River Boulevard) is closed long-term in both directions at the Marshall Avenue (Route 19) interchange continuously through late November 2011. Crews are rehabilitating the mainline Route 65 bridges at the interchange between the West End and McKees Rocks bridges. Traffic is being detoured using the on-and-off ramps to Beaver Avenue and California Avenue.

Route 28 Northbound Route 28 is reduced to a single lane between the 31st and 40th street bridges through 2012.

Crosstown I-579 Bridges and Ramps The ramp from the westbound Boulevard of the Allies to the southbound Liberty Bridge is closed continuously through Aug. 20 for bridge rehabilitation.

The bridges that connect Sixth and Seventh avenues to Washington Place over I-579 near the Civic Arena are closed continuously through mid-October 2011

I-79 Single lane closures (two of three lanes open) are in place around-the-clock in both directions on I-79 in the area of the bridge over Mingo Road between Exit 73 and 75 in Marshall Township through mid-August.
