Weekend Construction Planned Despite Rainy Weather

PITTSBURGH,None — Several highway and bridge improvements are scheduled this weekend despite the poor weather forecast. PennDOT has already canceled Parkway East pavement work. Here is a list of projects still on the docket.

Business Route 22/Parkway East

Business Route 22 will be closed in both directions from 11 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday to allow crews to install beams for a new bridge that will carry the outbound Parkway East over Business Route 22 in the municipality of Monroeville. In addition, the outbound Parkway East will be reduced to a single lane in the bridge area between the Penn Hills interchange and the Pennsylvania Turnpike from 9 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday.

Parkway West (I-376)

Short-term single lane closures on the westbound (outbound) Parkway West will occur from 6 a.m. to noon Saturday between the Rosslyn Farms and Interstate-79 interchanges for overhead sign inspections.

Interstate-79

Traffic in both directions on I-79 in Robinson and Kennedy townships will be reduced to a single lane from 7 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday between the Neville Island Bridge and the Crafton/Route 60 interchange. The southbound on-ramp from Route 51 will be closed. Crews will be milling and paving on southbound I-79 and concrete patching on northbound I-79.

Parkway North (I-279)

Short-term single lane closures on the southbound (inbound) Parkway North (I-279) will occur from 6 a.m. to noon Saturday on the ramp/roadway between the Fort Duquesne and Fort Pitt bridges for overhead sign inspections.
