The teens, who are being charged as adults by the 18th Judicial District Attorney's Office, were identified as Kenneth Gallegos, Demarea Mitchell, Juliana Serrano and Dominic Stager, the newspaper reported. They are accused in connection with the shooting death of Lloyd Alvin Chavez IV, a student at Cherokee Trail High School in Aurora, outside his Centennial home May 8, KDVR reported.

According to Gallegos' arrest affidavit, the teens went to Chavez's home with the intention of robbing him of vape juice, the Post reported. After money was exchanged, Chavez and Mitchell allegedly got into an altercation on the lawn in front of Chavez's home. At some point, Chavez was shot in the chest, the newspaper reported.

Chavez was taken to a hospital, where he identified one of his assailants as "Kenny" before dying during surgery, KCNC reported, citing an arrest affidavit.

Chavez was praised by his rugby coach as a "spectacular" all-state player, the Post reported. He was supposed to graduate from high school Thursday, KUSA reported.

A celebration of life ceremony was held for Chavez at a rugby park in southeast Denver on Saturday, according to KDVR.

According to the affidavit, the vape sale was coordinated on Snapchat, the Post reported. To buy vaping supplies in Colorado, a person must be at least 18, according to the newspaper.

Gallegos returns to court Monday for a status conference, the Post reported. The other co-defendants appeared in court last Thursday, according to the newspaper.
