NAPA, Calif. — A 9-year-old boy used his allowance to pay off the lunch debts of his classmates.
Ryan Kirkpatrick talked with his mother at dinner one night about other students at West Park Elementary School who could not afford lunch, KABC reported.
"It was I think $74.50," mother Kylie Kirkpatrick told KABC. "So I took that email and came to Ryan and said, 'What do you want to do?' And he said, 'I guess I can pay for it.' I said, 'Are you sure?' And he said, 'Yes.'"
School district policy indicates even students with a negative lunch account balance will receive a hot meal, KABC reported.
