Academy Awards 2019: What time, what channel, who is nominated for an Oscar?

The Academy Awards show is known to spark controversy.

Usually, it’s during the telecast of the awards for excellence in motion pictures, but this year it’s what you won’t see that is causing the fuss.

That’s because there is no host, and some of the awards that are normally presented during the broadcast will be presented during the commercials this year.

Comedian Kevin Hart had been tapped to host the 91st annual ceremony, but withdrew from the show after homophobic tweets he had posted years ago resurfaced online.

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences announced that to keep the show within a three-hour time slot, the awards for four categories - best cinematography, film editing, live-action short and makeup and hairstyling - will be presented during commercial breaks. Viewers can see it online.

“Roma” and “The Favourite” lead the nominations with 10 each. Glenn Close, Lady Gaga, Olivia Colman, Yalitza Aparicio, and Melissa McCarthy are up for best actress.

Christian Bale, Rami Malek, Bradley Cooper, Willem Dafoe and Viggo Mortensen are nominated for best actor.

Best picture nominees include "Black Panther," "BlacKkKlansman," "Bohemian Rhapsody," "The Favourite," "Green Book," "Roma," "A Star Is Born," and
"Vice."
