BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — A mother and child were attacked by an exotic cat wandering a residential neighborhood Sunday morning.
A caracal, a medium-sized wild cat similar to a lynx, escaped from a home and was walking along a sidewalk when it attacked the child, then the mother when she intervened, WMBD reported.
The big cat lunged at police and animal control officers, who shot and captured the animal.
The woman and child were being treated for puncture wounds and scratches, WMBD reported.
