Former 'Law and Order' director sentenced in child porn case

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — A television director whose credits include more than two dozen episodes of "Law and Order" was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years of probation after pleading guilty to child pornography charges.

Jason "Jace" Alexander, 52, will be required to register as a sex offender, according to The Associated Press.

In January, Alexander pleaded guilty in New York to promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing an obscene performance by a child, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office. The charges carried a maximum sentence of seven years in state prison.

Authorities arrested Alexander in July 2015 after an investigator with the District Attorney's Office downloaded child pornography from an IP address assigned to Alexander's home, authorities said. A subsequent search of the Dobbs Ferry resident's home turned up pornographic photos of children under 16 years of age.

Alexander was elected as second vice-president of the Directors Guild of America in June 2015. He resigned after his arrest, according to the Guild.

Alexander directed nearly three dozen episodes of "Law and Order" between 1994 and 2005. He has also directed episodes of "Prison Break," "Raising Hope" and "Royal Pains."
