Jerry Remy announces he's cancer-free 'for now and hopefully forever'

BOSTON — Legendary broadcaster and baseball player Jerry Remy said he is cancer free.

The MLB broadcaster and former MLB second baseman for the Red Sox took to Twitter Saturday morning to announce his scans came back negative since starting his cancer treatment.

Remy said the treatment was "highly successful" and celebrated being "cancer free for now and hopefully forever."

He was first diagnosed with lung cancer 10 years ago and has since faced multiple recurrences of the disease. Most recently, a portion of his lung had to be removed to treat the cancer.
