The Kansas Department of Children and Families also said it is investigating, The Kansas City Star reported.

“I can only confirm we received a report and an investigation is ongoing,” DCF spokesman Mike Deines told the newspaper. He declined further comment.

A report from the Overland Park Police Department about a battery incident listed a juvenile as the victim, the Star reported. Hill's fiancee, Crystal Espinal, 24, is listed under "others involved," the newspaper reported. Hill's name is not listed on the police battery report, but his address is the listed location, KCTV reported.

Overland Park police spokesman John Lacy confirmed that Hill, 25, is involved in a police criminal investigation, but would not confirm any other details about the case or his involvement, WDAF reported.

Hill has not been arrested or charged in Johnson County as of Friday afternoon, the television station reported.

In a statement Friday, the Chiefs said the were aware of the investigation.

"We're in the process of gathering information and have been in contact with the league and local authorities,” the team said. “We'll have no further comment at this time."

Police were called to Hill's address March 5 to investigate a report of child abuse or neglect, ESPN reported. Hill's name was listed on that report. The case was closed three days later when prosecution was declined, according to court records.

Hill pleaded guilty to domestic assault and battery in 2015 after his then-pregnant girlfriend accused him of choking and punching her in the face and stomach in a December 2014 incident, KCTV reported, when he attended Oklahoma State University.

According to court records, Hill’s domestic assault and battery charges from 2014 were dismissed and expunged, the television station reported.

Hill caught 87 passes for 1,479 yards and 12 touchdowns for the Chiefs during the 2018 season.
