Plane carrying rapper Post Malone lands safely after blowing 2 tires

TETERBORO, N.J. — A Gulfstream IV jet plane that blew two tires during takeoff at a small New Jersey airport made an emergency landing at Stewart International Airport in New Windsor, New York Tuesday afternoon, WLNY reported.

The Gulfstream Aerospace GLF-4 luxury jet, carrying 16 passengers, left Teterboro Airport around 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed, according to People.

One of the passengers was rapper Post Malone, who took home an MTV Video Music Award for song of the year for his song "rockstar" featuring 21 Savage. He also closed out the show with a performance with Aerosmith and 21.

Post Malone thanked those who prayed for him and explicitly expressed surprise at the number of people who were less positive on Twitter.

The plane diverted from landing at Westfield-Barnes Regional Airport in Massachusetts after needing to burn off more fuel.

The Associated Press reported that the pilot circled the airport for about 30 minutes before the jet was diverted.

The jet was initially headed to London Luton Airport in Luton, England.
