RACINE, Wis. — A man who was expecting a pizza delivery was arrested instead after using counterfeit money to pay for his meal, according to police records.
The Racine Journal Times reported that Toppers Pizza in Racine, Wisconsin, had been getting fake $20 bills for previous orders and filed a criminal complaint.
Raymond K. Prideaux, 35, was charged with two misdemeanors Thursday after police showed up at his door instead of a pizza delivery person.
According to the complaint, Toppers called police after Prideaux made his latest order.
Two officers showed up at Prideaux’s door and knocked, the complaint said. Prideaux responded, “Toppers?” and and officers responded, “Yeah.”
Police said Prideaux opened the door and tried to slam it shut once he saw the officers, who he allegedly pushed the door against them, ignoring their orders to keep the door open.
According to the complaint, one of the officers used an “electronic control device on Prideaux, after which point he was handcuffed and arrested.
Prideaux is charged with obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct. He is being held in Racine County Jail.
