Tom Hanks pays tribute to first woman he loved in heart-wrenching Instagram post

Tom Hanks’ mother, Janet Marylyn Frager, has passed away at the age of 84.

Hanks took to Instagram on Tuesday to share an emotional tribute to his mother with fans.

Under a photo of his mother in her younger days, Hanks wrote, “This beauty? My mom. She was the difference in so many lives. Many lives. We say goodbye to her today. Safe crossing, mom!”

Hanks’ wife, Rita Wilson, also penned a tribute to her late mother-in-law on Instagram. Sharing a photo of the mother and son, Wilson wrote, “This wonderful lady gave birth to my husband, and three other children. Thank you for bringing my love into the world. She is at peace now.”

Fans of Wilson and Hanks sent their condolences and shared similar stories of losing loved ones.

One follower of Wilson wrote, “Lost my mother last year in November. She was 94. So grateful to have had her share so much time with me. Many don’t get to have this. My thoughts of sympathy are with Tom and all of your family at this time. Know your pain. Stay strong, and remember all the good time.”

A fan of Hanks offered some words of healing to the grieving actor, writing, “We are so fortunate to have our loved ones walking beside us through life. It is sad & it can be hard to say good bye. To let go…It is natural. She is still with you all. Everyone she touched carries her love & wisdom.
