Two people charged in tobacco store robbery

MONROEVILLE, Pa. — Two people were arrested in connection to an armed robbery at a Monroeville tobacco shop.

The suspects were identified as Wayne Lemon, 45, and Courtney Baltimore, 20. Police said the two are in a relationship. Both are charged with robbery.

The robbery happened Sunday around 10:40 a.m. at Puff Discount Tobacco on Center Road. Two children were in the store at the time, police said.

According to Chief Doug Cole, of the Monroeville Police Department, witnesses gave police a detailed description of the robber, who was wearing a mask and gloves. They also provided information on the getaway car.

Cole said that by using the camera system on Route 22 and 48, police were able get the license plate number of the vehicle and put out a BOLO, or, “Be on the Lookout,” order.

Within an hour of the robbery, police in Swissvale reported that they had located the vehicle while investigating a shots fired call near the police station. They arrested Lemon, who they said told them that Baltimore asked him to rob the store.

She allegedly fired a shot at Lemon in Swissvale, then robbed him of the stolen money, according to Cole.

Baltimore was picked up on Monday with the assistance of the Allegheny County Sheriff’s office.
