Vigil held for man killed outside Washington Co. grocery store

SOUTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP, Pa. - A vigil was held on Monday night for a man killed outside the Washington County Giant Eagle last year.

Vinny Kelley was killed outside the South Strabane grocery store in June.

Monday would have been his 47th birthday, so family and friends did a balloon release outside the store.

Kelley was trying to stop a bank robber when he was shot.  No one was ever arrested.

“You don’t know what you took from this earth.  You don’t know what you did,” Kelley’s brother, John, said, saying that’s what he would say to the man who shot his brother.

Monday also marked the birthday of Frank Tulock.  The good Samaritan was killed in Weirton in September when he heard a domestic dispute outside his home and ran to help.

If you have information about either case, you’re asked to call police.
