Autumn started Saturday at 10:49 a.m., and later that night following a passing front, conditions appropriately felt much more like fall than summer.

By Sunday, there was a noticeable chill in the air. In fact, the National Weather Service issued in advance a Frost Advisory for a good chunk of the Channel 11 News viewing area -- mainly to the north and west of Pittsburgh. The advisory, which had been scheduled to turn active Monday at 2 a.m. and remain in place for seven hours, was cancelled before it was allowed to expire.

Severe Weather Team 11 says that slow clearing of the skies kept overnight temperatures a bit higher than previously anticipated. It was thought that there would be patchy to widespread frost due to temps plunging into the 30s, making sensitive plants susceptible to damage.

As for today, expect plenty of sunshine with a high of 62 degrees -- well below the average high of 71.

A mostly clear night follows with a low of 39.

Clouds begin to fill the skies on Tuesday. Conditions will be a bit milder, however, with a high temperature of 68 degrees.

The next chance for showers is late Tuesday night and especially on Wednesday.
