Krista Villarreal's Blog: Past Halloween Temps

Related

Our favorite spooky day of the year is still a few weeks away, so giving you a specific trick-or-treat forecast would be, well, frightful.

However, a look back at the last decade of Halloweens in Pittsburgh shows a wide variety!

Statistically, 57 is the “normal” high for Oct. 31. The average since 1998, though, favors comfortable late-afternoon temperatures in the 60s, which is where half of our last 10 Halloweens have been.

Snowsuits haven’t been necessary in quite some time, although some might remember Halloween of 1993 when a half foot of snow covered jack-o-lanterns in western Pa.

Widespread rain made for a soggy holiday two years ago but didn’t dampen the spirits of most little witches and monsters.

Finally, with our current "warm spell," many of you might worry about a bag full of melted chocolate and less-than-fresh kiddos under heavy costumes. Temperatures for Halloween in 1999 and 2003 actually did reach the mid 70s.

Rest assured though, much more October-like weather is only days away.
