Westmoreland County road repaired, ready to reopen following gas line explosion

SALEM TOWNSHIP — The Westmoreland County road closed since last month's gas line explosion is nearly ready to reopen.

Spectra Energy announced today it's completing the final repairs to State Route 819 in Salem Township.  The company expects work to be completed by Friday May 27.

PennDOT says all repairs are being done in accordance with its requirements and the road will reopen following PennDOT approval.

James Baker,26, was injured in the April 29th blast, which happened just a few hundred feet from his home.

He remains in the hospital.
