Woman accused of threatening judge released before trial

A woman who did prison time in connection with her husband’s death following a botched castration operation in their Butler County home -- and who was later accused of threatening a judge last month -- will be released from custody.

Tammy Felbaum was most recently charged with making terroristic threats and disorderly conduct in connection with an incident on Feb. 7 at the Westmoreland County Courthouse.

At that time, she told security officers that she had a gun, an Uzi and a rocket launcher in her purse and was going to shoot a judge. According to police, Felbaum, who was at the courthouse for a hearing, continued to be disruptive and yelled obscenities.

On Thursday, Felbaum appeared in court for a preliminary hearing in connection with that incident. As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors said they would drop the charge of terroristic threats if Felbaum pleaded guilty to a summary offense of disorderly conduct.

The terroristic threats charge will be will be dropped pending a judge's approval at her next court appearance, which is scheduled for April. Felbaum was released Thursday on her own recognizance.

Felbaum spent more than a decade in prison after he husband died inside of their Butler County house trailer after the botched operation.
