Woman confronts burglars, gets pepper-sprayed

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — A Los Angeles woman came home to find burglars breaking into her house.

As she went to confront the two men, one of the thieves sprayed her with pepper spray while running away.

A Ring.com surveillance camera captured the entire encounter.

Neighbor Millie Gan was aware of the crime but had not seen footage of the attack.

"I heard there was pepper spraying and they were in the house when she got home, so that was that's horrible. That must have been terrifying for her. I feel really bad," said Gan.

Many neighbors told KTLA that thieves have hit the area heavily and that home break-ins are all too common.  Some are frustrated and feel police aren't doing enough to combat the problem. Several neighbors are fortifying their property with cameras and lights and fences and watchdogs.

Detectives have been going door to door asking for any surveillance footage, and Gan tells us people had reported a suspicious vehicle in the neighborhood the week before this burglary. Witnesses believe the culprits were looking for potential targets.

"I heard there was a black Jeep that driving through here the whole week before that happened," said Gan.
