PITTSBURGH — A woman pleaded guilty Monday to a charge of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the car-surfing death of her 15-year-old cousin earlier this year.
Ronte Nelson-Goins was sitting on the trunk of 24-year-old Nadia Goins-Samuels’ car as it was moving along Race Street in Homewood on Feb. 29.
He fell off, sustaining a severe head injury that led to his death, which was ruled an accident.
In exchange for the guilty plea to one count of involuntary manslaughter, prosecutors withdrew charges of homicide by vehicle and reckless endangerment.
As part of the plea agreement, Goins-Samuels will be sentenced to five years on probation.
