Cowboys CB Newman Sidelined After Hernia Surgery
Saturday, October 11, 2008
Irving, TX -- (Sports Network) - Dallas Cowboys cornerback Terence Newman will likely be sidelined for at least a month after undergoing surgery for a sports hernia. The team's website said the procedure was performed Friday in Durham, North Carolina. Newman, who could be sidelined for as long as six weeks, missed last Sunday's game against Cincinnati with what was originally thought to be an abdominal strain. He had a groin problem in training camp and missed the entire preseason before also sitting out the season-opener against Cleveland. A Pro Bowl selection for the first time last year, Newman has 11 tackles in three games this season. Adam Jones, despite his off-the-field troubles this week, is expected to replace Newman in the starting lineup.
