WR Marcus Robinson Announces Retirement

(Sports Network) - Wide receiver Marcus Robinson announced his intention to retire as a Chicago Bear on Monday.

The 11-year veteran spent six seasons in a Bears uniform after being selected by Chicago in the fourth round of the 1997 NFL Draft out of South Carolina.

In 1999, Robinson amassed 84 receptions, a single-season team-record of 1,400 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. He also became the only player in the 88- year history of the Bears with three 150-plus receiving yard games during the 1999 season.

Robinson appeared in 51 games as a Bear and recorded 187 catches for 2,695 yards and 20 touchdowns.

After leaving Chicago, Robinson signed with the Baltimore Ravens in 2003 and hauled in 31 passes for 451 yards with a team-high six touchdown catches. A year later he joined the Minnesota Vikings and had 107 receptions for 1,553 yards and 17 touchdowns during his three seasons in Minnesota.

Overall, Robinson finished his NFL career with 325 receptions for 4,699 yards and 43 TDs in 107 games.
